Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in industrial combustion processes

The industrial sector is responsible for 24% (14 GtCO2-eq) of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions (as of 2019, IPCC AR6 WGIII). A large part of this is accounted for by industrial combustion processes in cement, metal, steel, and glass production, the chemical industry, and thermal waste treatment. Our research aims to optimize such industrial combustion processes through technological advances in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and, in addition, improve energy efficiency, resource utilization, and product quality.
