Development of a multi-robot system for mobile use in surface-related automated applications in industrial halls

For autonomous and parallel processing of large halls, e.g., for marking and height measurements, an economical and self-driving complete measuring system based on several different mobile robot platforms is being developed. This multi-robot system relies on cost-effective mobile reference points with reflectors and variable multi-sensor platforms for various instruments. Additional self-driving robots are used for specific tasks. Intelligent measurement methods are used to locate the various robots, including camera-based solutions, laser trackers, and tachymeters. The integration of optical sensors takes floor structures and obstacles into account and increases the reliability of the overall system. Coordination and data management are carried out using an accuracy-based process structure, so that, for example, the positions and routes of the various robots can be selected efficiently and effectively and the respective requirements can be met precisely. As a result, the multi-robot system represents a cost-effective solution for a variety of measurement tasks.
